Dear Friends,
This month I had a number of opportunities to connect with wonderful local organizations that help make our communities great places to live.
I joined the Stoneham Girl Scouts in a Friendship Circle to celebrate 100 years of girl scouting in America. I visited the Winchester Chinese School to discuss issues important to our local Asian American community.
I attended a legislative breakfast at Mystic Valley Elder Services and helped deliver hot meals to seniors as part of Minuteman Senior Services' Meals on Wheels program. Mystic Valley and Minuteman are non-profit senior home care agencies that receive funding from the state. They help support low-income seniors so that they can stay at home in the community rather than having to seek much more expensive care in nursing homes.
Senator Clark and I also hosted a Community Forum at Stoneham High School. We discussed a wide range of issues with residents and local officials, including school funding, the new middle school project, youth substance abuse, and regionalizing municipal services.
Best wishes,
Jason Lewis
